Why did you become a real estate agent?
My first exposure to real estate was as an appraiser. I enjoyed the analytical part of the profession, but felt there was not enough “people contact” in it. I wanted to be able to use my expertise in real estate in a more direct way to help clients.
-What experience do you have?
I have been in real estate for 25 years as an agent, broker and appraiser.
-What types of specific marketing systems and approaches will you use to sell my home?
Every home is different. Just as there are no “cookie cutter” homes, there are no “one size fits all” marketing systems. The first thing I do is to determine and describe the typical purchaser of the property in question. From those answers I develop the best marketing plan to reach those potential purchasers. The one common element for all of them is online exposure, because so many buyers are searching online first before contacting a realtor. After that, however, it varies greatly with the home in question.
-Can you recommend service providers who can help me obtain a mortgage, make home repairs, and help with other things I need done?
Yes I have a large data base of service providers that I have accumulated over the years. These are providers that have proven to be reliable and dependable. I constantly check on their performance after I recommend them. The list is fluid with new people being added as I find them.
-What type of support and supervision does your brokerage office provide to you?
Jefferson Properties is a brokerage that shares my philosophy of service to clients and they are always there to support my efforts in that area. They also believe as I do that this is a very dynamic business where things change regularly; consequently they are constantly making training and information on markets and trends available.
– What advice can you give to a first time homebuyer?
When you buy a home you are not just buying a place to live, you are buying a lifestyle. It is a process whose end result will add a lot of very positive elements to your life. When beginning the process, list the top 10 things you are looking for in a home (this is not just number of bedrooms and baths but things like location, schools, walkability, etc). Of those 10 list the top 5 you really want and would be difficult to do without. And of those 5 list the top 3 that are deal breakers. This will help keep you focused.
-What’s your business philosophy?
My client base is 100% referrals. This frees up a tremendous amount of time that would have to be spent on acquiring new clients that I now am able to spend on my current clients. I treat my clients as I would part of my family – take care of them in this very complicated process as I would want to be taken care of. By doing that I never have to wonder where my clients will come from. I truly enjoy what I do, so I don’t have to keep track of how many hours I “work”. It really is a good life!
-Tell me a little bit about yourself:
I grew up in Chesterfield County; spent time outside of the area after college, but came back to raise my son here. I enjoy gardening and almost anything outdoors in my free time. I keep in touch with past clients and one of the things I enjoy most is watching them and their families enjoy their new homes and lifestyles.
